We have added support for 3DS MAX 2026, allowing you to render projects made in the latest version of Autodesk’s 3D modeling software. In addition, we have also added support for the newly released V-Ray 7.2 and the long-awaited Corona 13. As with all 3DS MAX projects, we recommend using our plugin to gather all assets to ensure your scenes render correctly. Continue reading for an overview of the key features of the new software at Megarender.
3DS MAX 2026

Autodesk focused on better performance in 3DS MAX 2026, improving the speed of complex tools and modifiers. The improved modifiers include Array, Boolean, Conform, Displace, and Skin. An update was also made to 3DS MAX Fluids for increasing the processing speed.
Character Animation Toolkit viewport performance was improved, using optimized multithreading and enhanced hardware utilization. This alleviates the interactions with CAT and Biped animation tools, so owners of new, more powerful workstations can finally feel the difference beyond simulations and rendering.
A dozen other tools had smaller updates. Rectangles can now be created using three points. Splines can be used with the Vertex Weld modifier. The default material for Arnold and other built-in rendering engines is OpenPBR.
V-Ray 7.2

Chaos improved their procedural Sky map in situations where the sun is below the horizon. Now you can add stars, the Milky Way, and the moon; and you can match their positions to the latitude and longitude of a real-life place, and adjust their size and brightness.
New AI tools were added; these features are still in the testing phase, so behaviour may be inconsistent. AI Material Generator lets you create PBR materials from an uploaded image. AI Enhancer works as a post-processing tool and can redraw people and vegetation on the final image to make them more photorealistic.
V-Ray GPU has moved even closer to its processor-based counterpart. GPU rendering now supports Gaussian Splats, improved caustics, the new Night Sky, Material Select render element, and much more.
Corona 13

Corona 13 received many of the same improvements as V-Ray 7, as it is developed by the same company. For example, the AI Enhancer improves 3D people and vegetation. As for less photorealistic tools, new Toon and Outline materials were added. This is a great tool for rendering stylized images or highlighting select objects in a scene, as the material can be applied only to the objects you need.
As photorealism is the goal of Corona, unoptimized scenes can take a long time to render. The new Firefly Filter is available in the Render Setup menu. It is designed to reduce the amount of bright and persistent dots in rendered images, improving the final images and accelerating rendering.
